These tables represent the range of Canada-United States transboundary governance mechanisms across the region of Minnesota, North Dakota, Manitoba and southeast Saskatchewan at federal, state-provincial and local levels. They are sub-categorised according to major watersheds (Red River, Souris River, Poplar River, Rainy Lake, Roseau River, and other) and are ordered by date of conception. They contain information on the form and objectives of the agreement, scope of enforcement and management, and relevant stakeholders. The mechanism types categorised by treaty, memoranda of understanding (MOU), agreement (MOA) or cooperation (MOC), exchange of notes or other directives. Stakeholders refer to the organisation represented by members of the board, signatories or those otherwise mentioned within the text of the agreement or mandate.
