Workshop Phase 1:
Water Governance in Transition: Utility Restructuring and Demand Management in Ontario
April 13, 2007
This workshop gathered participants, from a range of stakeholder groups including water practitioners and government. The objective of the workshop was to disseminate the results of Phase 1 and obtain expert feedback for the refinement of both the research and the Phase 1 policy report. The theme of the workshop was “trends in water governance and conservation in Ontario”, focusing on the relationship between governance, municipal utility restructuring, and technological innovation (particularly water conservation).
Workshop Phase 2: Water Governance in Canada
Sustainable Water Infrastructure Management in Canada
May 5, 2008
This workshop gathered participants from a broader range of stakeholders than the previous workshop, including community representatives (of the case study cities), practitioners (including water managers), policy makers, and representatives from government, non-governmental organizations and industry. The objective of the workshop was to disseminate the results of the entire project with a particular focus on Phase 2. Again, primary importance being expert feedback from the experts on the refinement of both the Phase 2 research and related policy report. The theme of the workshop was “trends in water governance and conservation across Canada” with a focus on the relationship between governance, municipal utility restructuring, and technological innovation (particularly water conservation).
Both workshops were held at The Liu Institute for Global Issues (UBC).
